Epic games

If you are a player – or just visit Cheapskate occasionally – you probably know that Epic games provides at least one free game every Thursday. Epic is shaking things up a bit for the rest of 2020. Every day until New Year, Epic offers another free game. So not only do you have to act fast to grab your free game, but it pays to check in often. If you play your cards right, you have the chance to collect 10 more games you can play in 2021.

Wednesday’s free games are Tropico 5, the fifth installment in everyone’s favorite dictator simulator. This $ 20 title is about how well you can control your island nation and thrive from colonial times to the 21st century.

After Wednesday I am going on holiday with my Oculus Quest 2 and Stadia account the rest of the week. If you’re curious, it looks like the remaining games, though the weekend will be Inside, Darkest Dungeon, My Time At Portia and Night in the Woods (these links go to their respective pages on GameSpot if you want to know more). Do you want one of these for free? You have 24 hours starting at 8 PT (11:00 ET) each morning to claim the day’s game, after which it will be replaced by the next day’s entry.

If you are new to Epic’s weekly gift, it works like this: If you do not already have one, you can sign up for your free Epic account. Then you just have to get your free game, yours to keep forever. You do not even have to install it right away if you do not want to.

The full list of daily free games the rest of the year has been leaked. According to independent Twitter user @jovanmunja, the list of games for the rest of the year looks like this. After tweeting it on December 18th, the list perfectly matches the releases we’ve seen so far, and this is the list I trust earlier in the article to say which games are capable of grabbing over the holidays:

Epic Games did not respond to a request for comment on the list, but as mentioned it has been correct so far, so we have no reason to believe that the rest of the games on the list will not come as well.
