The incident occurred in the Baltimore Gas and Electric (BGE) building, according to a tweet from the Baltimore City Fire Department.
The incident is probably construction-related and not from natural gas and occurred while the crews were working on the building’s air treatment and boiler system, says a release from BGE.
According to the release, the building was largely empty due to the upcoming holiday and pandemic, and the fire department and BGE crews will continue to investigate.
According to the BGE release, scaffolding for window washing was compromised and a firefighter crew member was pulled to safety.
The official cause is unknown at this time, says a tweet from the fire department.
