It’s winter in Animal Crossing: New horizons and players can not only continue to be creative and adapt their islands to a cheerful place filled with holiday spirit, but now snow can fall instead of rain that also makes your island a winter wonderland.
The game makes an effort to sell the idea of winter. Villagers whip out winter clothes, winter variations of popular songs in the game play, players can build snowmen, and Christmas decorations can be collected.
And if you want to put your villagers to shame with your superior fashion sense, Twinfinite staff writer Rebecca Stone has put together a list of the best Christmas sweaters you can download to get more into the spirit of Christmas.
Cthulhu saves Christmas
I’m a sucker for old-school Christmas offers. Charlie Brown, Yogi Bear, Flintstones, Jetsons, Kiss Saves Santa, I can not get enough. Cthulhu Saves Christmas, which was released this time last year, takes the same humor that the series is known for and puts the weird, dark energy into its own Christmas special.
In Cthulhu Save Christmas, you play as the Dark Lord on a mission to rescue Santa from the League of Christmas Evil, regain his powers, and hopefully spread some Cthulhu-style holiday cheer. Which of course means driving people crazy and lots of tentacles.
The best part is that you do not have to spend a whole lot of time and money to get Cthulhu Saves Christmas experience. It’s only $ 7.50 right now on Steam and should take you about four to five hours to turn out.
Destiny 2: The Dawning
Destiny 2’s annual holiday event, The Dawning, has arrived and the whole Destiny world has caught the spirit of giving.
Everyone right now is trying to spread some encouragement by baking cakes to give NPCs around the solar system. Baking … however, does not work exactly the same way in Destiny. Cookies are made using the remnants of your fallen enemies, but hey, it’s the thought that counts. And plus, who said it’s still not delicious?
Pragmatically, it is also a good time to breed important materials and get some rare and powerful weapons. Destiny 2 is free to play these days, and Dawning is available to all players, so it’s definitely worth a look if you’re externally interested in Destiny.
Overwatch: Winter Wonderland
Overwatch just hits differently for some reason when a holiday event is going on. While I tend to slip away over the course of the year, what often pulls me back are the special holiday events that are more focused on fun than frustration. Oh, and the skins are always good too.
Winter Wonderland has four fights this year: Freezethaw Elimination, Mei’s Snowball Offensive, Snowball Deathmatch and Yeti Hunter. Each with their own unique rules and everyone is pretty funny.
Plus the weekly challenges that have taken place during the event make it easier to get a pair of the new skins and other cosmetics.
My favorite? It must be that Frosty the Snowman skin for Roadhog above.
Die hard

What a list of vacation-everything is complete without Die Hard; that ultimate Christmas movie. There is no other film that encapsulates Christmas and the holidays in general other than Die Hard.
There have been many Die Hard games released over the years. Personally, the original movie is my favorite, so I would go with the first Die Hard game on NES. While not the best pure video game made in the series, it surprisingly follows the film quite closely, even more so than some of the later games.
Start your adventure as action hero John McClane, and battle your way past terrorists to reach the upper levels of Nakatomi Tower and stop the evil Hans Gruber before he and his gooner break into the Nakatomi vault and ruin Christmas for everyone, especially the LAPD.
For an NES game, there is a decent variety, including multiple finishes depending on how well you perform. And of course you get one last showdown with Hans Gruber. Yippy Ki Yay mom fucks and happy holidays!
