The 49ers’ injury prospects for Saturday’s matchup with the Arizona Cardinals remain relatively bleak. While Dion Jordan and Tarvarius Moore returned to training on Wednesday, a trio of defensive starters remained on the sidelines.
Richard Sherman is still dealing with a calf problem. Jimmie Ward is in concussion protocol and Javon Kinlaw has a knee injury.
With the short week due to a Saturday kickoff, San Francisco has a fewer day to get players healthy enough to play. A bit of optimism can be found in the fact that Wednesday in a typical week is the first training day, and the players who were beaten up on Sunday have not participated anyway.
However, non-participation in the first two days of exercises is not a good sign of their availability on the way into Saturday. Thursday’s practice and subsequent injury report give us a better indication of how the team’s health will look against the Cardinals.
